Travis Kelce slams ‘ridiculous’ claim that he invented the fade haircut: ‘I just asked for it’

Travis Kelce slammed the claims that he invented the fade haircut.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” he said during Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night at Allegiant Stadium on Tuesday, referring to a viral article that said people were asking for the “Travis Kelce haircut” in barbershops across the country.

The article — which was published three days before Black History Month started — was met with backlash as people claimed it implied the Kansas City Chiefs player had invented the fade, a haircut that is often associated with black men.

“And to do it on Feb. 1,” Kelce, 34, continued. “They throw me into the wolves like that. That was messed up, man. I don’t want anything to do with that one, man.”

The NFL star, 34, also gave fans the secret to his “good fade,” saying, “It’s a two on top and a nice high-to-mid fade with a taper in the back.”

“I didn’t invent that. I just asked for it,” he added.

While some people have taken issue with the hype around Kelce’s haircut, Taylor Swift, whom he went public with last September, seems to be very fond of it.

Earlier this month, his barber of six years, Patrick Regan, said the “Bad Blood” singer “loves” the athlete’s buzz cut.

Regan told Fox News last week, “She has watched me cut his hair a bunch of times and always compliments it after.”

In December, Regan thanked Swift for documenting his work on social media.

“Thanks @taylorswift for the Pics of the Gameday Freshy for @killatrav 🙌🏼❤️ I had an Amazing Time at Yesterdays Game 🏈 .. ” he captioned a carousel on Instagram.
