This is the coded message from Prince Harry that ‘wounded’ Prince William: royal author

Prince Harry’s estranged relationship with Prince William was dealt a punishing blow in the Netflix miniseries “Harry & Meghan.”

Royal author Robert Hardman, whose new book is “The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy,” told The Post that he believes Harry criticized William’s choice to marry Kate Middleton.

“Harry talks about marrying someone for love, not because it’s the sort of person you ought to,” Hardman recalled. “I think that’s a lot more wounding. I mean that’s effectively dissing your brother and his choice of wife in a very public way.”

In the first episode of the series, the Duke of Sussex says, “For so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or urge to marry someone who fits in the mold, as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps destined to be with.”

He adds: “The difference between making decisions with your head, or your heart. And my mum [Diana] made most of her decisions, if not all of them, from her heart. And I am my mother’s son.”

Hardman also noted that the brothers’ bond was further damaged by Harry’s detailed account of his childhood and relationship with William in the 2023 blockbuster memoir, “Spare.”

“Both these brothers, they’ve guarded their privacy,” noted the royal commentator. “It’s been really important to them. And William is a really private person. He doesn’t do nearly as many interviews as his father did at this age and family life is absolutely off-limits for media.

“Privacy is really important and Harry’s just gone and chucked all these stories about their childhood into the public domain,” Hardman added.

In “Spare,” Harry, 38, writes about William, 41, ignoring him at Eton College and damningly details an altercation between the two of them that turned physical.

The pair had been arguing over Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, 42.

“It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” Harry writes of William. “I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

He also claimed that the alleged dustup left him with a visible back injury.

William and wife Kate, 42, have struggled with their relationships with Harry and Meghan for years.

In “Spare,” Harry alleges that Middleton “reluctantly” lent Markle some lipgloss before a joint appearance and more seriously had a major row over Princess Charlotte’s dress for Markle’s wedding.

“Endgame” author Omid Scobie recently shared that there has been “almost zero direct communication, bar a few short pleasantries, between the pair since late 2019.”

Scobie added that for Middleton, there is “no going back” — she has no interest in repairing her relationships with her brother-in-law and Markle.
