Margot Robbie honors 1964’s Black Magic Barbie with cape, dress on Gotham Awards red carpet

Barbie goes Gotham.

Margot Robbie kept her Barbie streak going at the 2023 Gotham Film Awards on Monday night, recreating yet another glamorous outfit inspired by the Mattel doll as she walked the red carpet at NYC’s Cipriani Wall Street.

The “Barbie” star, 33, looked chic in a black strapless sheath dress and sheer cape by Prada, with the look channeling 1964’s Black Magic Barbie.

Robbie’s cape tied at the neck with a bow and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, further committed to the bit by dressing the actress in short gloves and pearl earrings like the vintage doll’s.

She wore the same black peep-toe Manolo Blahnik heels she’s been sporting with many of her Barbie-themed looks, and finished the look with her hair in a bouncy ponytail.

The “Suicide Squad” actress went with a natural beauty look for the night, wearing peachy lipstick and minimal eye makeup.

For those looking to copy Robbie’s ‘fit, a near-exact copy of the caped dress (without the designer label or price tag) is available to shop for $138 as part of the Barbie x Unique collaboration.

Although Robbie wasn’t nominated for her role in the film, “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig was honored with the Global Icon & Creator Tribute and Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performance at Monday’s awards show.

While the SAG-AFTRA strike put her doll-like fashion on hold, the “Wolf of Wall Street” star was back to recreating Barbie’s looks earlier this month when she dressed like Cherry Pie Picnic Barbie in jeans and a cherry-print top.

And of course, she gave a nod to numerous Barbie looks while promoting the flick this summer, wearing everything from Earring Magic Barbie’s hot pink leather dress to an elegant black evening gown to honor Solo in the Spotlight Barbie.

With the festive season in full swing, we’re crossing our fingers for a Happy Holidays Barbie look to hit the red carpet any day now.
