Katie Couric’s first grandchild is on the way!
The journalist announced on Sunday that her eldest daughter, Ellie Monahan, is pregnant and expecting her first baby with husband Mark Dobrosky.
The former “Today” show co-host, 66, shared an Instagram video showing her youngest daughter, Caroline Monahan, handing her a beaded friendship bracelet to wear to a Taylor Swift concert.
At first, Couric looked confused by the “Granny to be” message — but then her jaw dropped as she started to process the reveal.
Ellie, 32, clarified, “I’m pregnant.”
The flabbergasted former news anchor replied, “You are? Wow!”
Couric told her Instagram followers over the weekend that she had “been dying” to share the news for months.
“This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!’ #omg #omg #omg #omg #needmy🤓,” she captioned the footage.
Couric’s friends and fans flooded the comments section to congratulate her.
“Congratulations Grannie2B‼️How wonderful‼️💛,” Christie Brinkley commented, while Helena Christensen added, “Yesss granmamacita ❤️❤️❤️.”
One longtime friend gushed, “Katie!!!! Congratulations. How fun!! I remember watching you when you were pregnant with Ellie. Wow. Full circle. ❤️❤️❤️.”
The milestone moment seemingly took place in August when Couric documented their mother-daughter concert on social media.
The trio posed for smiling snaps while attending one of Swift’s shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
“All I can say is WOW. @taylorswift defies superlatives,” Couric wrote via Instagram at the time. “But let me try. She’s a brilliant singer-songwriter and mesmerizing performer. Oh, and did I mention she is indefatigable?”
She joked about how fun it was to watch “with [her] girls who each have a PhD in Swiftology … know every word to every song and every designer Taylor” wears.

“We felt so lucky to experience this together. What I really loved is the joy Taylor exudes and the love she has for her fans and her entire team. But at the same time she remains so humble and grateful,” Couric concluded before thanking the 34-year-old Grammy winner.
Couric welcomed Ellie and Caroline, 27, in 1991 and 1996, respectively, with her first husband, Jay Monahan. He died of colon cancer in 1998.
She moved on with John Molner, marrying the financier, 60, in 2014.
As for Ellie’s love life, she and Dobrosky got engaged in February 2019. The couple tied the knot two years later.
